Has anyone yet felt Spring on its way? I swear I thought I did today. It's a smell in the air and the way the sun sits in the sky. It's coming, I just know it!

One other way in which something shows small possibilities is in this sweater, ratty and full of small little holes. That's a good thing. Before, it would have been a very fine slouchy sweater that would have worked in lots of different ways; but now amplify that by at least a factor of ten, because it is rugged and more experienced, giving a heightened sense of coolness. Maybe moth-bitten chic is the new look? Or, rather, the current look.
I like this sweater with a cool pair of shorts because I really do think Spring is just around the corner. And heels for a little help in the leg department, since who knows the current post-holiday state of our probably pasty legs. At least now they will look a little better. And a bag that's on my eternal wish list. I have two and I'll never not want another. And another. And another.

Here comes the sun...

Unearthen "Prism Earrings" - $275 at Unearthen

Someone somewhere must have a place to wear this "dress" to. I don't but I could easily concoct a plan that would allow me to wear it. It's called a dress but it is two pieces and quite frankly, no matter what their terminology is, it kicks ass. A tiny bit medieval with a touch of peasant-y and some kind of playful strength, this needs to be worn either in the middle of the forest or at a party where everyone is standing around so they can look at you all night. I also think there are about ninety other venues in which it would be appropriate. And because of that, accessories and shoes can go a million different ways. Black studded shoes with tassels play off of the medieval vibe and I may or may not have lived a past life during that time, so this look automatically appeals to me. Unearthen always does it right, and the mystical nature of these earrings works.

Where would you wear it?

There is a vibe to most well-patronized independent coffee shops that easily outshines the continual hum inside any Starbucks. Attitudes (and lack thereof) abound, as do the fashions. Though typically these shops attract hipsters and all the various sub-sects of hipsters (of which I am not ashamed to say that there could be an off chance that I fall into one). And though it can be said that there is a common theme to a lot of the people who haunt these places, really there is still a lot of diversity within the crowd. But I love the overall feel inside of arty, chill, kind-of-too-cool-but-actually-very-nice.

This Equipment blouse works perfectly for an afternoon rendezvous with a friend at your favorite local place. It dresses up really nicely for the evening, too. Same with the skirt, which really ends up being your best friend in every rough situation. The shoes add enough cool to the look to really be perfect. Ditto this Rochas clutch from their latest collection. This bag alone is a golden ticket into any joint, coffee or no.

How do you take yours?

Barneys still has a mad sale going on and there is much to be had at ridiculous steals. For every kind of look.

Punk is what I have been feeling lately. Or goth. Or some kind of weird mix of the two, evoking darkness and stay-the-hell-away-from-me type emotions. Rodarte knows what I mean, while still showing enough skin to say "Even though I am emotionally troubled, I still want you". The boots will make you feel tough, even if you inwardly crumble a bit sometimes. The spiked boot straps will help with that. Same with the cuffs (one on each wrist).

Being soft inside is okay, but does everyone else need to know that?

While I despise the flavor of "Original Bubblegum", I do not despise these shoes. They may share the same color as those foul little sticks of unpleasantness and they may both be very sweet, but otherwise they are nothing alike. I'll take hotness, heels, and studs any day. And they pair perfectly with this killer Peter Pilotto dress. As a final compliment, the Marion clutch by Alexender Wang (after which I have quite been lusting) has been found, brand new, for $200 less than current prices on ebay!! Get on it girls.

Who likes Original Bubblegum flavor? Actually, don't tell me because I might "unfriend" you.

I'm sorry but it true - Dr Martens are back. Actually, I'm not sorry.
Coming from the vault after less than two decades (that's pretty fast in fashion revival/recycling), they are popping up all over the hipster online stores. And I am not at all ashamed to say that I think I might want a pair. Though the inner struggle still remains: unquestionably cool or rather unsexy? It's something I can't quite figure out. Nevertheless...

The perfect compliment to these shoes is this military jacket, shockingly on sale now. (BTW I think there is only one left in this color and so you better snap it up) A vintage tee under it reminds us that history will repeat itself from time to time. And black skinny jeans couldn't set of the military-ish boots better. Add slightly punky hardware for the final finish and I think the inner struggle ceases; victory to Cool.

Will you?

The holiday season seems never to last quite as long as is desired. Maybe it just has to do with the months long build up (starting usually Halloween) that culminate in only a few short days worth of actual holidays. But there are so many days of merry-making and revelry in between that a two month long party is sure, perhaps, to be missed a bit when it departs on January 2nd. At least amidst this temporary depression we can try to buoy ourselves with a few positive thoughts:
  1. No more tempting pies, cakes, or other similar sweets usually always in stock during the season. Thankfully we can taper off a bit on the sugar til Valentine's.
  2. Sales galore have been occurring literally also while we sleep, with more to be had a good price every new day.
  3. A new year of (hopefully) new, fresh fashion. Please lets have some originality this year!!
  4. A new year to be a new you. That is, if you even have any problems with yourself.
So lets take a deep breath in and recognize the crispness of 2012, as yet unruffled. And if you still aren't quite over it all, keep in mind that there are only ten short months left til it happens all over again!

Glad or sad?

Until next time,
