So maybe it isn't exactly the type of music I would listen to every day, and I don't like any of the other songs off of the album, but I like the words and the kind of cheesy rock that goes along in "Riptide" by Sick Puppies. You can listen HERE. I like it because, when growing up, I always felt stifled - and I think lots of adolescents do - by the pressure to be just right and to not stand out in any particular way. It seemed like, no matter what, anything out of the ordinary would draw negative criticism from peers, even if it was a positive thing. And so for a VERY long time, I was a shy, anxious teen who was quite afraid of notice in any particular way (even though below that shallow emotion I actually quite longed for it and felt even sadder for not seeming to have any). It wasn't until I was in my early twenties that I finally didn't give a shit. Because why should other people's underinformed, superficial opinions of me affect my happiness? Especially people I didn't really even know! But it is hard to conquer that struggle. That's why I like this song, especially the lines:
"And you're just wasting your time
Trying to throw me a line
When you're the one drowning
I like where I'm at on my back
Floating down in my own riptide
The water is fine"
Trying to throw me a line
When you're the one drowning
I like where I'm at on my back
Floating down in my own riptide
The water is fine"
I SO very much adore these Acne wedge booties. They are ingenious and seem essential. The first outing in them should be bare legs, so as not to cover up any part of the foot. The print on this dress is girlier than I might normally do, but that's okay to step aside from oneself for a moment. Even though a jacket won't work anywhere right now, in this heat, the grey in this one really pulls it all together. Etoile by Isabel Marant always hits the mark and this is looking like it might be my 2011/2012 winter jacket. Adore. Then, so as to harden some of the edges, the Chilo bracelet by Armor - one on each wrist. Making it all just tough enough.
Be your own self and nobody else's.
Until next time,

Be your own self and nobody else's.
