Medusa the Gorgon, as Depicted by Carvaggio

Falling so hard for this fresh Iosselliani limited edition necklace. It almost shouldn't be worn with anything at all, because all other adornments become obsolete to the eye. Focusing is only possibly by looking directly at the necklace. It mesmerizes and, like the gorgons, its mighty power can freeze you in place.

Decency is sometimes required in public, and so for those who must abide by social customs and wear clothing, I would strongly suggest pairing the necklace with this asymmetrical (and truly quite mythological!) dress by BB Dakota. The neckline remains straight and simple, so as to keep all of the attention on Medusa, and the bottom keeps our eyes moving with its off kilter hemline. Below that, use nude wedges to blend everything into one long, leggy mass that will be just one further indication that you are the siren of myth.

Make them fear you. Make them worship you.

When people move my things even just a hair out of place, it make my stomach churn. Even just a one degree turn in the wrong direction of a misplaced statue sends me reeling. I become so focused on readjusting, correcting that I can hear no conversation. Must make right. Like some kind of sick zombie. Is that OCD? Or am I just really anal retentive?

This new lovers + friends tunic is pretty great. It says tunic but seems borderline dress. Just in case, lets do leather shorts with it. From a line that I have known for years but kind of shelved in the back of my fashion catalogs. But when I went to France last November, I went into their store expecting minor finds and discovering major results. Maje is major. And we cannot forget a new pair of kicks from the Senso Diffusion line. Too bad if everyone is talking about them. I am not sick of looking at them yet. Plus, they couldn't look any better with these leather shorts if they tried. As the icing, a new Bliss Lau piece. Always on my list as covetable. So warrior chic.

I am an Aries. Give me a break.

We try to make sense of the universe and energies and the way life happens. Or doesn't happen. Do we concoct things that resemble order or reason just to make ourselves feel a bit more secure in a seemingly unstable world or is there some weird truth to it all? I still haven't quite figured that out. Every time I think I know, I am promptly corrected by some unseen hand. I no longer care which theory is the correct one. Or even if either is accurate. The less I try to make sense out of it all, the more sense it all makes.

Every time I come across something by Pleasure Doing Business, I like what I see. It seems that is becoming one of my favorite new go to brands, even though I don't actually own anything by them yet! This dress is no different though. It is made in that way that, depending on your accessories and personality, it can take on a life of sassy, sultry, or sweet. Opting for a mild mix, I like it with some white TopShop heels and a completely cool Noir ring. There is just something lately about lighter outfits that refreshes me. I mean, I can never and will never ditch my marriage partner, Black, but lightening up, especially when the weather does too, just feels like a good cleansing detox.

Do you believe our lives are a series of balancing scales? Give some, get some? That is the closest thing I have come to believing without actually knowing anything at all.

I had a dream last night that we were waiting in an airport, strangely sitting in rows of rather temporary, audience-in-a-gym style seating. And as we were waiting for the plane, I kept looking down and seeing these really odd looking blue and white caterpillars that were bulbous and skinny. I pointed them out to my fiance and he nonchalantly mentioned that they were the fastest and deadliest caterpillars in existence. No one else was alarmed, but I was highly alarmed and agitated and proceeded to say "Eek!" and scream and stand on my chair so that it could not run up onto my legs. And no one else cared. But me. What does that mean?

One thing I want to creep up my leg all day long is this sweet pair of Pierre Hardy ankle strap wedges. Really digging the colorblocking, though that is usually not so much my thing and I honestly am annoyed because it is trending right now. (Also hate that phrase - "trending" -and hate even more that I just used it.) Discovered this skirt at Steven Alan and know that it needs to be mine in every way. Imagine it this summer. Love that non-traditional hemline. Digging it with a simple tucked in white button down. And more than one of these gold knuckle rings.

If I wore enough of the rings, you think I could smash all of those apparently unimportant tiny beasts?

LD Tuttle "The Mono" - $568 at Oak NYC
Buy it Here

The heavens have parted and the new LD Tuttles for Spring are budding like fresh grass. One I had my eye on (basically slept with one eye open so that I could keep looking at them all through the night for some very sweet dreams) specifically was the "Mono." And thank you Oak for being the first to make my 30th birthday dreams come true. Heaven.

Sevan "Milky Opal Ring" - $24,900 at Barneys

Now, why was I thinking that the Rodarte for O.C. was going to be well priced? I mean, relatively speaking, yes it is. The items are priced lower than regular Rodarte goods. So in that sense, this line is quite reasonable. I guess I was thinking more like "reasonable for me". But really, why would I think that? It is just some association my brain has developed over the years, what with the burgeoning world of "this designer for that company at a different price point". I now just assume that these limited edition collections will be lower in price. It's all Target's fault really. I have never once bought anything from their GO collection, but my mind goes there. They started this all.

Nevertheless, these pieces are kind of attainable. The dress is old school, bordering marmy but I think it could work. The heels help.

Did you think it would be cheaper?

February and September feel like second and third Christmases for me. Opening gift after gift, i.e. fashion slide-show after fashion slide-show in hopes of some real gems amongst the lot. This go around, for Fall 2011, there were a few satisfying collections to be sure, but overall I had the overwhelming feeling that I had been a very bad girl - there seemed to be a lot of coal in my stocking. Where has all the startling ingenuity gone? Were has the appeal of femininity gone? (If I see one more gorilla arm I am going to pound my chest and scream) Were is the new excitement?! I wish this was just one bad season amidst plenty of good ones but, alas, things have not been so good for some time now. Has Santa had pneumonia and sent all the wrong elves to do his bidding? If so, let's hope this long bout of bed rest does him some good and, come September, we are happily whistling carols as we open gifts of gold.

Not even because I referenced Christmas, but for some reason I really like the pairing of deep, dark forest green with bright, bright red.

Keep a lookout for lumps in your stockings.
