I quickly scrolled down, past it on Tivo. I flipped to other, more important pages in OK Magazine. I offered nothing and listened to nothing about it when brought up in casual conversation. I made fun of it without ever knowing a thing about it. And all my silly little efforts at non-conformity failed. Thanks to and MTV marathon, I can admit that I am a Jersey Shore lover. I guess it is their quick, honest nature and the complete oblivion they all seem to have to everything but their own Jersey bubble. Every episode I watch, I think of myself being dropped into that house with them and I cannot think of anything more in the world out of place. First off, I don't speak the language of the natives. I didn't know what "creeping" was or "battling" on the dance floor. Of course I understood in a second, but that would take some getting used to. And also, I am pale. And don't have big boobs. And don't have any kind of accent to make the slang sound good with once I finally find myself fluent in Shore-speak. All in all, I guess the reason I really like the show so much is because it reminds me of all the Sci-Fi/Fantasy books I read: Completely not of this world.
This dress is almost out of this world too! I died when I found it on sale at Forward. Kind of perfect because it works in so many situations and is by no means ordinary. Same with this ring! How insane is it? Damn! Okay and then the shoes play off the dress a little and like the pairing of the simple, smooth black and white against all that color and texture.
So don't look down on me for my weakness. Instead, look into your own Tivo box and see that you are just as guilty. You have Episode 1 of Season 2 all lined up to record tomorrow.

Oh Let Me Pretend
The heat is oppressive! I love warmth, but don't care to be stifled by it into suffocation!
The best plan of action - and the only way to begin wearing fall clothing - seems to be to stay indoors completely for a day whilst cranking low the air conditioning. I realize that economically and environmentally this makes little sense, but this is a blog and need make no sense at all of I am pleased for it not to.
Get your boots and your big shaggy coat on! The air is thrumming nicely to a tune of the upper sixties and we are ready for adventure. TopShop will be keeping us cool (in both meanings of the word) for the long journey. I feel like being on some terribly wild sea adventure that would toss the ship and spray cool, salty water in my face. Moving almost recklessly across the black heaving waves, it would be hard to catch my breath for fear and excitement. Just in case, I will also pack a scrimshaw jackknife. It is impossible to imagine what to expect.
I am off for now. I will most likely return before dinner time.

Once In A While
Life is such that time is never quite the same. Some points seem to last forever, and other moments puff away instantaneously. In those latter, a sense of loss always seems to follow. As if, the harder it is to hold on to, the less you take care if it while its there.
I imagine being some kind of warrior angel in this dress. Sent down from heaven, I am entrusted to guard and protect. At all costs. The shoes are a femme version of gladiator, in which I can fight til the death if necessary and look hot while doing so. And so perhaps it is no wonder then that my accessories are also aimed to defend.
Remember your moments and protect them well. You can know that I will most assuredly be guarding mine.
