In the land of blog, two weeks without a post is...death? No, more like extended unconsciousness akin to a coma. So, these typing fingers have been idle for two weeks, partially due to Arizona travels and partially due to being busy at their other job of paper sculpting! But, focusing on Arizona for a moment...

Visiting Scottsdale again, after having lived there for three years, I realized something this time that existed there before but never captured my attention. I saw that the planning and design of the city was completely harmonious within itself and amongst its natural surroundings. Every bit of architecture, every street corner seemed as if it could have been created by the same mind and yet everything had its own unique identity to distinguish it from the place next door. It didn't feel like Disney World, with obviously created sets. It felt more like a designers Eden, with verdant offerings that all loved one another.

Inspired, I felt this weird urge to buy a piece of Native American turquoise jewelry. I don't know why - I never shopped at any of the little silver stores in Old Town Scottsdale when I lived there before. But I had to go in! And am so glad I did because I was rewarded with wonderful offerings that I brought home with me and will never forget how their attainment came about.

I feel the need to bring you a little piece of some of that west that I found. Stack these cuffs (I am thinking two on one wrist and one on the other) for a look that is going to work just as well with no clothes on at all as it will with the rest of this look. Speaking of, there is just something about a muted grey/neutral palate and deep green/blue that seems so fresh. A color combination that seems a breath of fresh air.

Life has been restored, in my mind, in my fingers, in my heart. Enjoy.

Until next time,

What is it about the wind that touches us so? I receive such joy in feeling air breeze past my skin; Especially at this time of year when the temperature is just right. I think it is because it is an indicator that we are in fact alive. A force, of which we cannot even see the cause itself but only the effects, forces itself upon us. An element that we have no control over, the wind continually reminds us, with its caresses, that we feel something. And isn't feeling one if the truest ways to know that we have life within us?

I can imagine wearing this light romper as the wind picks up its pieces and flattens them for a moment against me, only to release the silk another moment later as it hurries along on its way to remind another of their own existence. The shoes (I cannot stay away from LD Tuttle!!!!) have hairs on them that will dance when the wind races by again, which it always does until I am not around to know it anymore. Earrings that need the wind to function.

I am suddenly feeling so caught up that I might just be swept away!

Until next time,

I am always in the mood for a bit of creep. I mean, I like dark fairytales, live for fantasy books of beasts and magic, and drool over most anything black. I love/hate taxidermy as well. Upon seeing this rabbit bowl from Nymphenburg, lust fired within me. It really isn't that strange if you think about it: a rabbit lazily chilling in a bowl. But rabbits, when artistically created with extreme realism, end up being just a little bit dark in a bestial sort of way. It is just inherent in their strange beauty.

Wanting more darkness after being delivered this taste of porcelain mystique, I went dark on the dress, animal skin grunge on the shoes, and ended with a frightening onyx ring on the hand (I am thinking possible two or three of these worn in tandem should really do the trick).

Perhaps this isn't exactly a Brothers Grimm story come to life. But, for today, it is my life come to a story.
